• Before using the bonded carrier vehicles, the forwarders must ensure that the importer is reliable and honest. Furthermore, the forwarder must scrutinise and verify the documents before submitting them to the bonded carrier.

• It is the responsibility of the forwarder to check the documents minutely to prevent any forgery, misstatement, mis-declaration and under-invoicing. Failing to fulfil this responsibility, the forwarder will be answerable to the customs, and will have to produce the importer before the customs authorities.

• In order to get the vehicles from the bonded career, the forwarder will submit a request on the letterhead mentioning the accurate, relevant details of the importer, and the container.

• In case of violation of the rules and regulations, bonded carrier will have the authority to initiate legal action against the forwarder. The forwarder may be fined, and the amount of the fine will have to be paid within 30 days. The forwarder and the importer will have to compensate for the loss of the government revenue.
